DAVIDsTEA Updated Favorite Teas 2020 PLUS Teas I Want to Try

When I launched Tea & Things a year ago, I included a post about my favorite and least favorite teas from DavidsTea. Since then, most of the teas I included have been discontinued. While I am upset that I won’t be able to have some of my favorite teas anymore, this is the perfect time to update my list of favorite teas from DAVIDsTEA. I asked on Instagram if you wanted to read my top five favorites or my favorite in each category—each category won, so here it is.

Herbal Tea: Organic Cold 911

DavidsTea Cold 911 Tea sachet in paper cup

I’ll be honest, mint and lemon are not my favorite flavors, but I find myself reaching for Organic Cold 911 more than any other herbal tea because it really does help relieve cold symptoms. I drink this tea with honey and sometimes a splash of lemon juice whenever I have a cough, throat tickle, or even runny nose. I believe DavidsTea updated Cold 911 back in January, and I did notice a slight flavor change from the sample compared to the tea sachets I bought over a year ago, but nothing extreme. I recently bought another box of tea bags, so we’ll see how the taste compares.

Honorable Mentions: Forever Nuts, Just Peachy, Sweet Tart

Want to Try: NEW Berries & Cream

Green Tea: Green Passionfruit

TeaPop made with DAVIDsTEA Green Passionfruit green tea and sparkling water in clear glass on kitchen counter

I normally don’t like green tea…or passionfruit. But for some reason, I LOVE this tea. I first tried it in the 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar, and I liked it so much it was one of the teas I bought with the calendar’s 20% off coupon. This fruity green tea is great both hot and iced, and I even enjoyed it as a TeaPop. I’m also very excited to try DAVIDsTEA’s recipe for Green Passionfruit White Sangria for my 21st birthday next month. With all of the cutting back that the compnay has been doing, Green Passionfruit is now only available as tea sachets and in the 4 oz iconic tin (and currently as a pitcher pack, but I believe that is seasonal), but I am just grateful it’s still available at all.

Black Tea: Organic David’s Breakfast Blend

David’s Breakfast Blend is another tea that I first tried in the Advent calendar, which led me to use my points for two free ounces of this tea at the end of the year. It is a classic black tea that tastes great with a little bit of honey or even as a latte. Its strong flavor holds up well as an iced tea, and I think it would pair well with Argo Tea’s Limonello herbal tea. Similar to Green Passionfruit, Organic David’s Breakfast Blend is now only available as tea bags, but this is exactly the type of tea you would want to drink from a tea bag—simple and delicious.

Honorable Mention: Organic Cream of Earl Grey

Want to Try: Vanilla Bean Black

White Tea: Pomegrateful

Once again, I first tried in this tea in the 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar (are you sensing a trend?). White tea is my favorite and I tend to enjoy fruity flavors, so it’s no surprise that I like Pomegrateful. I considered buying more of this with my Advent calendar coupons, but went for a different tea (keep reading to find out which one). Now that it’s summer, I definitely wish I had some because I think the pomegranate flavor would taste even better iced. I will definitely be purchasing some on my next DavidsTea order.

Matcha

Would you believe I have never tried a matcha from DAVIDsTEA? I really want to, but I have no space in my tiny dorm rooms for matcha equipment. All of their matchas sound delicious though, and I think I am going to give in a purchase some soon, along with a matcha maker and/or matcha bowl and whisk.

Want to Try: Matcha Matsu, Vanilla Matcha

Rooibos: Lavender Buttercream

This was the last tea I ended up buying with my Advent calendar coupon. Lavender Buttercream was originally released for the Valentine’s Day Collection and was supposed to be limited edition. I went in to a local DavidsTea store right at the end of January and the tea sounded good, so I took a leap of faith and purchased it. It tastes good as a plain hot tea, but it is absolutely delicious as a latte. It has a sweet and buttery flavor and a smooth texture that is enhanced by some warm almond milk and froth. I am very thankful they decided to keep this tea beyond Valentine’s Day, because I will definitely be repurchasing it when I run out.

Honorable Mention: Alpine Punch

Want to Try: Bee the Change, Birthday Cake

Oolong: Maple Syrup Oolong

I don’t drink a lot of oolong tea, but I greatly enjoyed Maple Syrup Oolong in the 24 Days of Tea calendar. It was sweet and buttery, with a hint of maple and a strong oolong flavor. I would order this tea again just to try it as a latte sweetened with maple syrup.

Want to Try: Pheonix Oolong

Pu’erh: Hot Chocolate

If you’ve read any of my other DAVIDsTEA posts, you know that I don’t really like the Hot Chocolate tea. However, I do prefer it over Coffee Pu’erh (which is retiring anyway) and I have not tried any of their other Pu’erh teas. I originally thought this tea tasted like chocolate water, then thought it tasted better when I finally tried it with milk. While it’s still not my favorite, it is even better as a latte. I have even made a few recipes with this tea that I enjoyed and am excited to share soon.

Mate: Chocolate Covered Strawberry

Unfortunately, the only Mate I have tried from DavidsTea is a Valentine’s Day tea that is being discontinued. Actually, all but one of the mates are labeled as “Last Chance” right now. I didn’t love Chocolate Covered Strawberry, but if you like chocolate and fruity flavors in your tea, I would recommend scooping this one up before it’s gone.

Traditional: Organic Silk Dragon Jasmine

DAVIDsTEA has traditional teas in every category listed above (except Mate), but you might have noticed I didn’t list any of them. This is mostly because I have not tried many traditional teas. Out of the two I have tried, Organic Silk Dragon Jasmine is my favorite. It has a strong floral flavor with just a touch of herbaceous green tea flavor. It is not at all bitter, leading me to believe it is made with good quality green tea leaves. This is another tea I tried in the Advent calendar, and I’m not sure I like it enough to purchase it on its own, but I would be happy to drink it in a future Advent calendar or tea sampler.

Honorable Mention: Honey Black

I hope this updated list of my favorite teas from DavidsTea was helpful. Let me know what your favorites are and what teas you are sad to see be discontinued in the comments down below.
