DavidsTea Matcha Infused Breakfast Recipes
We’ve all heard the expression “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” and yet it often gets overlooked and even skipped altogether. One way to add more fun into breakfast is to experiment with new recipes—and you know I love trying tea-infused recipes. Today, I’m reviewing two breakfast recipes from DavidsTea that use matcha. Read on for my thoughts!
Matcha Buttermilk Pancakes
Matcha and pancakes sounds like a simple combination as far as tea-infused recipes go, but DavidsTea take it up a notch with this recipe by using their Blueberry Matcha. Or they try to at least. The matcha flavor wasn’t very strong, so I thought they mostly just tasted like regular pancakes. If anything, they actually tasted a bit artificial from the blueberry flavoring (though the matcha doesn’t taste artificial when it's made as a latte). Personally, I would recommend trying matcha pancakes, but with unflavored matcha. I actually have plans to try another matcha pancake recipe soon, so we’ll see how the flavor compares.
Matcha Chia Pudding
I make chia seed pudding for breakfast multiple times a week, but I usually keep it simple with just chia seeds, oat milk, honey or maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon. I’ve seen recipes that call for making it with yogurt like this DavidsTea recipe does, but I had never tried it before this. Personally, I like my chia pudding to be really thick, but the yogurt changed the texture and made it thinner than I like (I also used almond milk yogurt, which may have had an effect). However, I did enjoy the matcha flavor in my chia seed pudding (I used Vanilla Matcha), and I would definitely try adding some to my usual recipe. Whether I would recommend this exact recipe depends on if you like chia pudding made with yogurt (or if you think you will), but if you like matcha I do recommend adding some to chia pudding for a fun and different flavor.
So, What’s The Tea?
As usual for DavidsTea recipes, I would make these again with a twist. Regular, unflavored matcha in my pancakes, and no yogurt in my matcha chia pudding. But overall, I think they’re fun recipes that can add some excitement to your mornings and help switch up your breakfast routine.
