REVIEW: Dunkin' Blueberry Pomegranate Refresher and Coconut Refreshers

At the end of March, Dunkin’ Donuts released a new flavor of their Dunkin’ Refreshers: Blueberry Pomegranate. Before I had a chance to review it, they came out with the new Dunkin’ Coconut Refreshers—the regular Dunkin’ Refreshers, which contain green tea extract, made with coconutmilk. So, now I'm reviewing them all today. (They actually just released Lemonade Refreshers this week, so that review will be coming soon).

Blueberry Pomegranate Dunkin’ Refresher

My sister tried this drink before I did and told me not to get it. She said it tasted like grape medicine. I do think it tasted a little medicinal, but I didn’t mind it. It definitely tasted more like grape than pomegranate. There was also a hint of blueberry flavor, but it was different from the blueberry syrup used in other drinks. Overall, the blueberry pomegranate might be my favorite flavor of Dunkin’ Refresher.

Pink Strawberry Dunkin’ Coconut Refresher

When I went to try this drink, I honestly didn’t even remember what the original Pink Dragonfruit Dunkin’ Refresher tasted like. The Coconut Refresher had a very strong flavor with more dragonfruit flavor than I remember in the original—I wonder if they added more flavoring to prevent the coconutmilk from overpowering it. It was also more artificial tasting than I remember and very sweet. I ordered a medium of this flavor because it was only $3, and I couldn’t finish it. However, I wish I had let the ice melt and tried it again because I found the other flavors to be better once they became more watered down.

As for the texture, the coconutmilk makes it really smooth and fairly creamy. While I didn’t love the flavor of the Pink Strawberry Coconut Refresher, I did like the texture which gave me hope for the other flavors.

Golden Peach Dunkin’ Coconut Refresher

I did not like the Peach Passionfruit Dunkin’ Refresher, so I was really hesitant to try this flavor of the Coconut Refresher, but I actually enjoyed it a lot more than the original for a few reasons. Frist, the Golden Peach has more peach and less passionfruit than I remember from the Dunkin’ Refresher. Second, I thought the original had a strong perfume-y flavor that I was not a fan of. That flavor is still present in the Coconut Refresher, but significantly less so. Finally, the flavor of the coconut milk works really well with this flavor—maybe even better than either of the other flavors.

Purple Pomegranate Dunkin’ Coconut Refresher

After enjoying the new Blueberry Pomegranate flavor of the Dunkin’ Refresher, I was most excited to try this flavor of the Coconut Refreshers. The overall flavor was definitely stronger in this drink than the original and was very sweet. I kind of reminded me of purple cotton candy, which is fun. It also definitely tasted better as it became watered down, which I have learned it the secret to these drinks. The coconutmilk adds a hint of flavor that doesn’t blend quite as well as the Golden Peach flavor, but is still good.

So, What’s The Tea?

Overall, I think Dunkin’ had added an interesting variety of drinks to their menu with the new Blueberry Pomegranate Dunkin’ Refresher and the three flavors of the even newer Coconut Dunkin’ Refreshers. If I had to pick a favorite flavor, I would say the Blueberry Pomegranate/Purple Pomegranate. But these flavors are pretty polarizing so you should definitely try them all for yourself. Even if you didn’t like a flavor in the original Dunkin’ Refresher, you may like it in the Coconut Refresher (or vice versa). Personally, I’m now excited to try the newest Lemonade Refreshers.
