Argo Tea Black Loose Leaf Teas

Argo Tea has an extensive in-store menu. They also have a selection of loose leaf teas. You can fill up a bag to take some tea home, or you can have them brew you a cup of any tea they have available. You can even order a Teapuccino, Tea Sparkle, or Bubble Tea with any of their loose leaf teas. Of their loose leaf teas, there is the greatest selection of black teas. Additionally, many of these teas are on the menu as a Tea Classic or seasonal tea, which makes them easier to order.

Unfortunately, the Toasted Cocoa Cinnamon and the Strawberry Pepper teas have not been on the menu recently. The tea wall at my local Argo Tea is past the cash register, so I have not been able to see if they have any of these flavors in stock, and the employees at that location honestly intimidate me a little too much to ask. I also will not be reviewing the Hazlenut Chai (which is on the menu) because I am allergic to chai. But I have tried the other flavors, and I am sharing my thoughts here.

Oolong Coconut

The first tea on their loose leaf wall, Oolong Coconut is also on the Tea Classic Menu. It has a strong coconut flavor but is not sweet like most coconut things are. As a hot tea, I really enjoyed the lack of sweetness because it allowed the oolong flavor to come through. As an iced tea, I personally wanted it to be sweeter and more tropical tasting. I added some sugar to help make it sweeter, but I think taste even better as a hot or iced latte with coconut milk (which is no extra charge at Argo Tea).

Ginger Peach

The Ginger Peach tea is not on the regular menu, but is on my campus ordering app, so I was able to try it hot. The day I planned to try it iced, I ordered in person and they told me they didn’t have any. While the tea has a strong peach smell, the flavor is overpowered by the flavors of ginger and black tea. I am not a fan of ginger, and to be honest this is not my favorite drink, but the flavor isn’t too strong compared to some other ginger teas I’ve had.

Earl Grey Creme

I ordered the Earl Grey Creme back when it was on the Tea Classic menu, before they changed it. It has a typical earl grey flavor. It is smooth, with a light bergamot flavor. It is a little more astringent than I would like, but that is true of many Earl Grey teas. While I wouldn’t necessarily order this again, I do enjoy the Earl Grey Vanilla Creme Teapuccino.

Energize

Argo Tea seems to highlight their Energize tea whenever they are between seasonal teas, usually with guava or some other fruit flavoring. I know I’ve had it before, and my local store is usually out of the guava when I try to order, but I can’t remember at all what it tastes like. It is clearly not a very memorable tea, and did not boost my energy much, but I do believe it has a nice, simple flavor that some will likely enjoy.

While Argo Tea only displays a few teas on their menu, they have a large variety of loose leaf teas. Thankfully, many of their black teas are also on the menu at least some of the year.
